MEETING SCHEDULE

• 6:00pm – 7:00pm: gate/doors open at 6pm. Come help the board members set up for the meeting and socialize with other members. Meeting will begin promptly at 7pm.

• 7:00pm – 7:15pm: Business meeting

• 7:15pm – 8:15pm: Presentation with questions at the end

• 8:15pm – 8:50pm: Raffle

• 8:50pm – 9:00 pm: Clean up

Just in time to bob for Halloween apples, Dave Carr of Raging Cider & Mead Co. in San Marcos will be coming to our chapter to talk about apples, pears, and mead. Dave started making cider in 2010 due to his partner Kerry’s gluten intolerance, and has expanded it into a small family business. They grow their own fruit using regenerative methods and produce ciders/perrys/wines naturally using native yeasts endemic to the orchards.

The company committed to only source apples, pears, honey, and other fruit from within San Diego County to support the local farming community and regrow the rich apple and pear orcharding traditions of the local San Diego mountains, in particular the Julian region.

Dave will be telling us about how they grow and source their fruit, and how they utilize it to make heirloom beverages that are sold nationwide online.
