Apricot Varieties for Southern California, Presented by Ben Pierce
Note: The November chapter meeting will take place on December 3 to accommodate the Thanksgiving holiday. Also, in response to member requests, doors will now open at 6:00 p.m. for additional socializing and tasting before the presentation. Meeting will begin promptly at 7:00 p.m.
Ben Pierce will be speaking on the topic of low-chill apricot varieties for Southern California. Believe it or not, a prolific apricot tree producing great tasting apricots is a rare fruit in San Diego county. In addition to reviewing tested varieties, Ben will discuss how to propagate apricots, and how to preserve this luscious fruit.
Ben has been a member of CRFG since 1991, and has served on the CRFG Board of Directors as Vice President, Chair of the CRFG Technical Committee and board member. He was the Chair of the North San Diego County Chapter of CRFG for 6 years. He also has served as the Vice-Chair, Newsletter Editor, and Webmaster for the chapter.
