MEETING SCHEDULE
6:00pm – 7:00pm: gate/doors open at 6pm. Come help the board members set up for the meeting and socialize with other members. Meeting will begin promptly at 7:00pm.
7:00pm – 7:15pm: Business meeting
7:15pm – 8:15pm: Presentation with questions at the end
8:15pm – 8:50pm: Raffle
8:50pm – 9:00 pm: Clean up
Our presenter for the May meeting is Marisela Chávez, the Indigenous Food Systems and Food Sovereignty Advisor for University of California Division of Agriculture and Natural Resources (UC ANR). UC ANR bridges leading-edge research and the challenges facing our communities through a robust statewide system.
San Diego County is one of the most biodiverse counties in the continental United States. The multitude of microclimates are home to many native edible plants. This presentation will describe some of those plants and their uses, and will provide some historical and cultural perspective as well.
