San Diego County Fair

The SAN DIEGO COUNTY FAIR is back! As in the past, the San Diego and North San Diego Chapters of CRFG will be hosting a booth in the Garden Center. Please stop by to say hello!

We are also gathering volunteers for two shifts each day the fair is open. READ ON FOR THE DETAILS!

Q: When is the fair open?

A: June 12 - July 7 from 11am-10pm daily (11pm close on Fridays/Saturdays). Closed All Mondays and Tuesdays.

Q: What times are the volunteer shifts?

A: We will have 2 shifts each day, from 11-2 and 2-5. We need two volunteers for each shift.

Q: Where will I park?

A: As in years past, the Del Mar Horse Park will have paid parking with a free shuttle – volunteers do receive a day pass to this lot, so no need to pay. Torrey Pines High School has been offered in the past, however, it will not be available this year. Instead, parking will be at Canyon Crest Academy (5951 Village Center Loop Road). This lot is free of charge and offers a free shuttle to the fairgrounds.

Q: Why should I volunteer?

A: Free fair entrance for the day of your shift. Free parking (Horse Park lot) with shuttle service to the fair. Opportunity to meet other orchard enthusiasts, share information and learn something new. And it’s fun!!!

Q: Do I need to be an expert to volunteer?

A: Absolutely not. It’s more about connecting with people and sharing information about CRFG. If you don’t know an answer to a question, there are references available in the booth and it’s OK to say “I don’t know.”

Q: How can I reserve my volunteer spot(s)?

A: Carol Graham (NSD member) is graciously organizing the volunteers again this year as she has for many years. Contact Carol by email at navanax@aol.com. If you reach out by email, please leave a few selections of your shift desires and how many shifts you want to fill. This way there will be options as the spots begin to fill up.

Q: How do I get my fair passes once I have volunteered?

A: If you are volunteering to staff our Fair Exhibit but did not attend our May 28th meeting to collect your Fair admission pass & Del Mar HorsePark parking pass, please email Carol with your mailing address so she can mail your passes. If you are attending our Saturday June 8th potluck you can collect your passes there, but please contact Carol about this so she will know that she does not have to mail your passes.

For all who sign up: Carol will connect with you to reserve your shifts, talk through the details of parking, location of the booth, and send you your fair tickets and parking pass in advance of your shift.

Sign up early to get the best selection of shifts!
