Pawpaws, Presented by Mark Lee

What’s a pawpaw? If you grew up in the eastern U.S., you may have heard of them, or you may have no idea. But at our next chapter meeting, we’ll learn all about this fascinating fruit, which definitely qualifies as rare in San Diego.

Our speaker, Mark Lee, grew up in San Diego and his parents and grandparents grew fruit trees on their properties. After college, Mark worked for the County of San Diego Agricultural department, where, he met Art and Dottie Logan. The Logans were the first people he saw growing and fruiting pawpaws.

Mark has traveled the world and been introduced to many different fruits. He currently lives in Chula Vista, where he grows many different fruit trees. Pawpaw is one of his favorite fruits to grow.
